Aurora Sound Studio was founded in 2010 by Anya Petrova, a lifelong musician and audio engineer with a passion for capturing the unique sounds of Alaska. What started as a small project studio in a converted garage has grown into a state-of-the-art facility, renowned for its exceptional acoustics and commitment to artistic excellence.

From the beginning, Anya envisioned a studio that would not only provide top-notch recording services but also foster a creative community for local musicians. Anya Petrova

Chief Sound Engineer

Anya Petrova is the founder and driving force behind Aurora Sound Studio. With over 15 years of experience in the audio industry, Anya has a deep understanding of all aspects of sound production, from recording and mixing to mastering and sound design. Her passion for music and her commitment to excellence have made Aurora Sound Studio a trusted destination for artists across Alaska.

Anya holds a degree in Audio Engineering from the University of Alaska Anchorage and has worked on countless projects spanning a wide range of genres, including folk, rock, electronic, and classical music. She is known for her meticulous attention to detail, her creative problem-solving skills, and her ability to bring out the best in every artist she works with.

Kenji Tanaka

Mixing & Mastering Specialist

Kenji Tanaka is a highly skilled mixing and mastering specialist with a passion for sonic perfection. Before joining Aurora Sound Studio, Kenji worked as a freelance audio engineer in Tokyo, Japan, where he honed his skills on a wide variety of projects, including albums, EPs, and film soundtracks. He brings a unique blend of technical expertise and artistic sensibility to every project, ensuring that each recording sounds its absolute best.

Kenji is proficient in both analog and digital mixing techniques and is adept at using a wide range of software and hardware tools. He is also a skilled mastering engineer, with a keen ear for detail and a deep understanding of how to optimize audio for different playback platforms. His experience adds another layer of expertise to the services provided at Aurora Sound Studio.

Bjorn Erikson

Audio Technician

Bjorn Erikson is the backbone of Aurora Sound Studio's technical operations. As Audio Technician, he is responsible for maintaining the studio's equipment, ensuring that everything is in perfect working order. He also assists with recording sessions, providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance to engineers and artists.

Bjorn is a highly skilled technician with a deep knowledge of audio equipment and electronics. He is also a talented musician in his own right, playing guitar and bass in several local bands.
